well with latest particles fix in Linux smoke would sometimes dissappear for a second of two and then reappear in full. so you can see clearly through it if you move the view around a bit. it looks like some kind of wall clipping. i plan to do some testing over the weekend to see how exactly i can reproduce it and then report it.
